Staff Reports
When the newly expanded Garner Historic Auditorium reopened three years ago, the town celebrated the event with a variety show. The show, “Gift,” was in recognition of the town’s gift to its residents and also presented the numerous talents and gifts of Garner.
Now in its third year, “Gift 3″ is moving to Valentine’s Day on Saturday, Feb. 14. The show will feature over 20 acts that explore various aspects of love.
Legendary jazz trumpeter, Tom Browne, the Constellations of Apex featuring Phillip McFadden from Garner Public Works, the Chamber Band, as well as many other performers, will set the mood with live entertainment.
Other singing acts include Festival Brass, the Grass Strings, Julie Hamilton, Patricia Franklin and Tessa and Doug Stanton with award-winning musical director McCrae Hardy accompanying some of the acts on piano. The Towne Players will also make an appearance.
Beyond just singing, “Gift 3″ will showcase many dance performances as Center Stage, All About Ballroom, Christy’s DancExplosion, DanZeZone and Garner Glamour Gals offer a range of dance forms and techniques.
The show starts at 8 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, and doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, but audience members are encouraged to make donations.
