Wake County Sheriff’s Office has released a 911 call from last Tuesday morning’s shooting on Creech Road.

The caller, a passing motorist, says he saw a Hispanic male run out of a house “chasing a lady”. The caller says the man shot the woman in the back before  ”she went down”.

“I saw him come out of the house and I was like ‘What is he doing?’ And he just ran over and shot her,” said the caller.

The call came at 7:36 a.m., Feb. 24. The caller told emergency dispatch that another man tried to intercede during the shooting.

“[He] looked like he was trying to stop the man from shooting,” he said.

Authorities have charged Jose Manuel Valdez-Masias, 44, of Garner, with the first-degree murder in the shooting of June P. Carlyle. Authorities say that after shooting Carlyle, Valdez-Masias shot himself in the head. He was found at the scene with a gun near his body, according to warrants.

Valdez-Masias could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted.
