Three local teachers from Garner-area schools have been nominated to receive the Wake County Teacher Assistant of the Year award.

Joy Fox from Creech Road Elementary School, Tommy Tobin from Timber Drive Elementary School and Shasta Williams-Turner from East Garner Magnet Middle School are among the nominees.

Teacher’s assistants at each Wake County school voted on an outstanding teacher assistant to be nominated for the award from their school. These teacher assistants were then able to submit a portfolio for consideration for the award.

Forty-five portfolios were received this year, and 10 finalists were selected. The finalists were interviewed and observed in the classroom setting before the committee selected the award nominees.
