Police Briefs: March 23 through March 26

The Garner Police Department received the following calls between Monday, March 23 and Thursday, March 26:

Burglaries

Police are investigating a burglary at Carolina Cardiology at 868 Timber Drive. The incident occurred between 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 and 5 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25. Two computer monitors and keyboards valued at $1,000 were stolen. There were no signs of forced entry.

Motor vehicle theft

A pickup truck stolen from Prince Telecom Holdings Inc. was recovered in Durham County on Monday, March 23. The thief or thieves took several items from the truck, including tools and an in-car video system, with a combined value of more than $2,000. So far, police have no suspects.

Larcenies from motor vehicles

A thief or thieves stole an iPod and radar detector with a total value of $450 from a motor vehicle while its owner dropped off her child at Klassy Kids located at 1600 Benson Road. The incident occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on Monday, March 23.

A thief or thieves stole a GPS unit and tools valued at $900 from a truck in the parking lot at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 4500 Fayetteville Road. The incident took place around noon on Thursday, March 26.

Larcenies

The Intown Suites hotel located at 1491 Hwy 70 West found itself short a television after someone stole one from a room between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 19. Although no charges have been made, the hotel thinks the last known tenant of the room may have taken off with the $300 TV, police said.

A thief or thieves stole $700 worth of plywood from a construction site at 1400 N. Greenfield Parkway during the weekend of March 21-22. Police have no suspects.

Embezzlement

Police issued an arrest warrant for a former employee at Lowe’s Home Improvement located at 1575 W. Hwy 70 for allegedly stealing $900 from the cash register and allowing customers to take around $3,000 worth of lumber and doors from the store without paying for them. After the employee’s register had been short on several occasions, the store discovered that it had the activity on video, police said.

Hit-and-run

Police are investigating a hit-and-run at the BP gas station located at 401 Benson Road involving a car that was parked in the parking lot. The incident occurred between approximately 3:35 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 26.
