The Garner Police Department received the following calls between Friday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 27:
Assaults
Police are investigating an assault with a handgun that occurred in the parking lot at 1023 Pine Walk Circle at approximately 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 24. Police have identified a suspect they say is Joshua D. Lee. Police say Lee, 17, fired a gun at the victim and then fled the scene with several others. There were no reports of any injuries.
Burglaries
Police are investigating a break-in at the concession stand located at the baseball field at North Garner Middle School in which more than $400 worth of property was stolen between approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, May 21 and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26. Among the items stolen were a beverage refrigerator, a 30-gallon trashcan and a box of baseballs. This is the second recent theft for the field. During the school’s Spring Break earlier this year, a thief or thieves stole the field’s sound system.
Police responded to a breaking and entering at a home located at 1107 Timber Drive in which someone stole more than $600 in property, including a Microsoft Xbox video game system and games. The incident occurred between approximately 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27.
Sex offense
Police say they arrested a Garner man for having sex with an 11-year-old girl at a home located at 404 Adrian Drive between approximately 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26. Steven M. Callahan, 19, was charged with statutory rape and remains at Wake County Jail with a $200,000 bond.
DWI
Police arrested a Goldsboro woman for a driving while impaired offense at the intersection of Creech Road and Dan Dixon Drive at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday, May 23. Suzette J. Sutton, 48, was charged with DWI and driving without a license, according to police. Police say she was also served two outstanding warrants for worthless checks.
Police arrested a Garner man for a DWI offense along West Hwy 70 at approximately 11 p.m. Sunday, May 24. According to police, Carlos Sanchez, 32, was charged with DWI and driving without a license and remains at Wake County Jail with bail set at $250,000.
Larcenies
Police are investigating a larceny at the Rite Aid located at 1333 Fifth Ave. in which nearly $200 worth of heartburn medication was stolen. The incident occurred between approximately 2:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 24.
A thief or thieves stole a lawnmower and a pressure washer with a total value of more than $450 from the Home Depot located at 2540 Timber Drive at approximately 10:15 p.m. Monday, May 25.
Someone stole a John Deere riding mower valued at $1,800 from a home located at 1013 Lawndale St. The incident occurred between approximately 6 p.m. Friday, May 22 and 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 26.
A thief or thieves stole a washer and dryer and a range with a total value of almost $1,500 from the Whirlpool Quality Express warehouse located at 970 N. Greenfield Parkway. The incident occurred between approximately 6:15 p.m. Friday, May 22 and 8 a.m. Monday, May 25.
