Police briefs: Monday, June 8 through Monday, June 15

The Garner Police Department received the following calls between Monday, June 8 and Monday, June 15:

Robberies

Two unknown suspects robbed a Greensboro, N.C., man at gunpoint at the American Pride Car Wash located at 1421 Hwy 70 West. The suspects stole $120 in cash and a $150 money order in the incident that occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 9.

Assaults

Police say they arrested a Garner on suspicion of shoving his girlfriend to the ground, causing her to hit her head on the asphalt of the parking lot at Fellowship Baptist Church located at 5029 Old Stage Road. Timothy I. Miller, 20, was charged with aggravated assault. The incident occurred between approximately 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 8.

Police say they arrested a Garner man on suspicion of threatening to stab a woman with a knife during an argument at 109 Trottington Court that occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 10. Tyree Matthews, 32, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and taken to Wake County Jail.

Police are investigating an incident at 1419 Foxwood Drive in which they say the driver of a blue Dodge Charger pointed a gun at a woman and her cousin as they stood in the front yard. The suspect has been identified as a black male with dreadlocks known as “Lil’ Chris,” according to police. He was last seen wearing a black hat and black shirt. The victims were not injured in the incident that took place at approximately 1 p.m. Friday, June 12.

Burglaries

Police are investigating an attempted breaking and entering at 1020 Buckhorn Road that occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m. Friday, June 12. The victim saw an unidentified white male trying to enter the house through a front window, according to police. The suspect fled in the direction of Timber Drive before he was able to enter the home. Police are looking for a white male of medium build approximately 5-feet and 11-inches to 6-feet tall, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a light colored T-shirt and jeans.

Thefts from motor vehicles

Someone stole a speaker box with two 12-inch speakers and an amplifier with a total value of $600 from a vehicle at Forest Hills Apartments. The suspect also damaged the vehicle’s dashboard, according to police. The incident occurred between approximately 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 10.

Larcenies

Police say they arrested a Garner man on suspicion of stealing items valued at more than $500 from two different Target stores located on the same street. Police allege that Albert Leach, 43, was observed at the Target at 1040 E. Timber Drive on two separate occasions, damaging a product box the first time before returning a second time to steal a GPS unit. According to police, he was also caught on video stealing a book reader from the Target store located at 2700 Timber Drive later the same day. The incidents occurred between approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 10 and 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 12.Leach was charged with larceny and damage to property.

Fraud

Someone used the dealer code for Capital Cellular located at 1432 Garner Station Blvd. to order more than 200 cell phones between June 4 and June 12. The suspect apparently ordered the phones over the Internet and then had them sent to fictitious addresses, according to police. The total value of the phones is more than $67,800.
