Post 232’s season ended abruptly the week of June 29 as they fell to North Raleigh Post 297, 4-2 in game four of the Area 1 West quarterfinals. Garner gave it a heck of a shot this summer but found themselves on the short end of a 3-1 series defeat.

Garner finished the regular season as the No. 3 seed in the Area 1 West. While Garner was plagued with injuries for much of the summer, they managed to overcome the shortcomings and win several games that many didn’t think they would. For example, early in the season, Garner defeated the defending state champion, Randolph County, and also defeated the No. 1 seed in Area 1 West, Durham Post 7.
While coaches, players and fans were disappointed with the early exit from the playoffs, the 2009 Post 232 players improved upon last season and finished the season well over .500. The 2008 team had finished right at the .500 mark and was eliminated from the playoffs in just two games.
Even though Garner didn’t have the success some had hoped for this season, the future looks bright for Post 232 as many of the players from this season are eligible to return in 2010, in which Post 232 could be an offensive juggernaut.
