Arrest made in pizza deliveryman robbery

Garner police have made one arrest and are searching for additional suspects in the robbery of a Papa John’s Pizza delivery driver Thursday night.

Garner police arrested Demetrice Lamont Tucker of 106 Center St. in Garner for common law robbery and assault inflicting serious bodily injury. Police were called to the parking lot of 925 Bryan Place in the Bryan Woods apartment complex at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 for a reported robbery.  The delivery driver, Di Yang, and witnesses reported that Yang was assaulted by several black males who beat, kicked and robbed him of pizzas, his wallet and money.

Yang is currently in critical condition at WakeMed Raleigh.

Investigators used information gathered from the phones of the suspect and victim and other means to identify Tucker as the person in possession of the phone placing the pizza order. Tucker was arrested without incident. Officers obtained a search warrant and recovered clothing and other items at Tucker’s home.

GPD is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the other people participating in the robbery.  Anyone with information is urged to call the investigator Amy Miller at 919-772-8810 or Crimestoppers at 919-226-CRIME.
