Garner Police Department gains new officer

The Garner Police Department welcomed a new officer recently.

Kevan Anderson was sworn-in during a ceremony at Town Hall Friday, Oct. 16. Anderson was born Oct. 26, 1982, in El Paso, Texas. He moved to North Carolina in 1990. He graduated from Apex High School in May 2001. Shortly after receiving his diploma, he moved to Italy to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Anderson comes from the N.C. State University Police Department, where he was employed from 2006 to 2009. During his tenure, he served as patrolman, field training officer, field resource committee member, community liaison coordinator and CIT officer. Before doing law enforcement, he was employed as a manager with Chick-Fil-A, where he worked for seven years.

Anderson moved to Garner in 2007 with his wife, Brooke. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife as well as other relatives that live in the area. Anderson also likes spending time on home renovations, watching movies and serving in his church.
