The SPCA of Wake County will hold its fourth annual Howl-O-Ween celebration Saturday, Oct. 24 starting at 2 p.m. at the SPCA’s Curtis Dail Pet Adoption Center just off Tryon Road and Hwy 70.
This fun and educational event will provide a unique and memorable Halloween outing for children of all ages. Attendees will enjoy Halloween crafts, sweets, games and a ghoulish fashion show put on by dogs currently available for adoption. Meet the winner of the SPCA’s Best Black Shelter Cat contest and the SPCA’s very own pet psychic. Children will also learn how to properly take care of pets.
A small donation or animal-related item upon admission to the event to help support the SPCA’s life-saving programs is appreciated. For ideas on what to donate, visit spcawake.org/donate. Partygoers should leave their own pets at home to allow the homeless dogs, cats and rabbits to take center stage.
Also in honor of Halloween, the Wake County SPCA is offering an adoption fee reduction for black and orange cats. This includes orange tabbies, calico, tortie or tuxedo-marked cats. The fee between now and Saturday, Oct. 31 is only $31, down from $95.
This October discount is part of a larger goal of saving a record number of lives in 2009. The reduced adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, a wellness exam, deworming, basic feline vaccines, a microchip and more — more than $250 worth of veterinary medical services.
