The public can get a sneak peak of first-round design ideas for downtown Garner at a workshop this Wednesday.

The Town of Garner and the Garner Revitalization Association will host a public workshop to present initial design concepts of the Historic Downtown Garner Plan Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Garner Historic Auditorium.

These designs are being developed with input gathered from a public workshop held last Monday. Meetings and workshops were also held with landowners, business owners and other stakeholders.

“The information gathered at the public workshop helped our consultants get a feel for the visual preferences of the community and understand the participants’ opinions on where revitalization efforts should start in our downtown area”, said John Hodges, executive director of the Garner Revitalization Association. “We hope even more people will come out to preview the initial design concepts and help us refine our plans.”

This design process is the second phase of a project to create a market-driven redevelopment master plan for the historic downtown area. The final phase will be the development of a strategic action plan that identifies and prioritizes activities and investments necessary to make the revitalization plan a reality.
