Junior “J.R.” F. Wilkins, 78, passed away Friday, Nov. 20 at Rex Hospice Care Unit

A native of Granville County, J.R. was born Dec. 17, 1930, to the late Charlie Edward and Ada Whitt Wilkins. J.R. retired from the A&P Tea Company after 34 years of dedicated service.

The funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 23 at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home. Entombment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Clayton.

J.R. is survived wife Leola Williams Wilkins; sons A. Maurice “Moe” Wilkins (and wife Helen) of Benson, Keith Darnell Wilkins (and wife Amy) of Clayton and Robbie Darren Wilkins (and wife Ann) of Holly Springs; sister Lugene Powell of Roxboro; brothers Rennie Wilkins of Rougemont, Roy Wilkins, Willie Wilkins and Lawrence Wilkins, all of Oxford; and grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Carly, Preston, Darren and Tiffany.
