Police seek suspect after armed robbery

Update 7 p.m.:

Garner detectives have identified the second suspect in a recent armed robbery. Warrants have been issued for Dezi Noriko Harris, 20, of 1913 Auburn Road in Garner, charging him with robbery with a firearm and second degree kidnapping. Harris’ location is not known. Anyone with information about Harris is urged to call 911 or 919-772-8810.

One suspect in custody after armed robbery

One man is in custody after an armed robbery at Bryan Woods Apartments in Garner on Tuesday. Police are still searching for the second robber.

Hubert Anthony Best, 51, was charged with robbery with firearm and possession of a stolen firearm in connection to the robbery.

The victim, Jose Arangure, said that he was walking home after his car broke down when an unknown suspect approached him, holding a gun. The suspect forced him to go to a nearby apartment, 922-A4 Bryan Place.

At the apartment, Arangure  said a second suspect, later identified as Best, of 922-A4 Bryan Place, also displayed a handgun. Once in the apartment, the victim was robbed of his wallet and threatened with retaliation if he reported it to police.

Arangure  was released unharmed and reported the incident to the police.

Based on information from the victim, Garner police obtained and executed a search warrant at 922-A4 Bryan Place. Best was found inside the apartment during the search.  Investigators recovered a stolen handgun in the apartment that is believed to have been used during the robbery.

Garner detectives are continuing the investigation to identify and arrest the other suspect. He is described as a black male, 5-feet-11-inches tall, weighing approximately 200 lbs.  The suspect has black hair in corn rows.  He was wearing a grey tank top and blue jeans.  He was armed with silver revolver.
