“I am thankful for the subscription and advertising customers of The Garner Citizen, without whom I would not have a job here. I am thankful for Barry Moore and Debbie Rodwell for the same reason. I am thankful for my coworkers, including the contributing writers and contractors, because they make working here a pleasant experience. All in all, getting up and coming to work is a good thing! Thank you, God, for these blessings.” — Pam Edmonson, operations manager

“I am so thankful for family and friends, especially in a time of need. This past year has required more help than ever. I would especially like to thank my son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Heidi, and mine and my wife Paula’s friends, Chuck and Barb Gaiser. Thanks for being there.” — Ralph Cwik, citizen journalist

“I am thankful for my best friends, my parents. Growing up an only child has the potential to make one lonely, especially if you move every six months or so like I did. But my parents were always there for me. They got me involved in tons of local activities, from soccer to dance lessons to art classes, and they always made sure I had a full social calendar regardless of where we were or how long we would stay there. I didn’t have an average childhood, but I’m thankful for that because now that I’m grown, I know what they did for me. Now my parents are two of my best friends.” — Courtney Flaherty, creative director

“I am grateful for the opportunity to work at The Garner Citizen in the capacity of managing editor. At such a young age, I am well-aware of the rare chance I’ve been given. I am extremely thankful that I’ve been given the opportunity to learn and expand my skills and that Barry Moore has entrusted me with this responsibility.” — Amy Townsend, managing editor

“I’m thankful for Snicker Dandy coffee from Swift Creek Coffee House, the changing color of the leaves this time of year (beautiful especially at Lake Benson and White Deer parks) and the folks who interact with us online, like Lisa Jeffries, Jessica Commins, Gordon Duncan, Mike Askew, Lisa Sullivan, Jon McClarnon, Katie Neumann, Marie Williams, Phil Buckley, Tammy Coppedge, Edna Reynolds, Arnie Osborn and Elmo Vance. You make my job so much more interesting and enjoyable — thank you!” — Rachel Healy, Web editor

“I am thankful to God for so many things — freedoms we still have in our country, a good wife, good health and allowing me to do things I have long wanted to do this year.” — Scott Truax, citizen journalist

“I am thankful to wake up every morning to my family and have a chance to give back a little of what I take from this life.” — George Adomavicius, citizen journalist

“I am thankful for my family and friends. My family is very special to me, and my friends I consider to be my chosen family. I am so thankful for my mom; she is the best in every way, and my dad is the sweetest man I know. I am thankful for my two wonderful girls. They give me a reason to smile everyday and live life to its fullest. I feel I am very blessed, and I am thankful for all the blessings in my life, big and small.” — Debra Mills, administrative assistant

I’m thankful for running into Rachel at our SEO meetup and being able to move from that to a nice friendship. Everyone I’ve meet at the Garner Citizen has been super nice and dedicated to getting out a high quality product to the people of Garner, and that says a lot.

Rachel has more talent than most 20 year veteran editors I know. She’s smart and always thinking about the future rather than living in the past. She see’s where the future of hyper-local news coverage is, and is moving her team in that direction.

I’m not a citizen of Garner, but I’m thankful that people like Rachel are working hard at small town newspapers.

  2. Rachel Healy, thank you for the recognition but really we need to thank YOU for being such an outstanding Web Editor. You do a fabulous job with this site but equally as important, you understand the value behind the relationships built through social media avenues. That in an of itself is HUGE but even BIGGER when all the work you do online & offline translates to a higher percentage of success for the Garner Citizen team as a whole. Good job & KUDOS to you! So…thank YOU again for all YOU do. :)

Wow. You guys and gals rock! I’m so grateful to have Garner Citizen as our community’s news source and to all of you who make it a weekly reality. Thank you for keeping us informed, entertained and in touch with one another.

  4. I am thankful for such FABULOUS local publications like Garner Citizen for bringing us LOCAL news we can use, their never ending support of all of the great businesses and causes here, and for giving us such wonderful people to interact with on a regular basis! (Maybe the folks at the big publications around the country can take a lesson from y’all! :-) )

Happy *early* Thanksgiving to everyone at the Garner Citizen and to all of the readers!

I am truly blessed so I am thankful for a lot but I will pick one thing for the purpose of this posting….I am thankful for Garner – this wonderful town that my family and I call home!! The meaning of community is not lost here – at our schools, our churches, our hair salons, our coffee shops (I’ll have to try Snicker Dandy ?) and especially not at our newspaper. The support that you give to everything Garner is appreciated by all of us and I am very thankful for everyone at The Garner Citizen!
