Your letters: Etheridge article left out opposing sides

I laughed out loud when I read Congressman Etheridge’s comments in the Dec. 2 issue of the The Garner Citizen. He said, “I am committed to fiscal responsibility and honest budgeting for the future.” He said that last year when he was running for re-election.

During the debate with his opponent, Mr. Etheridge, in the folksy way he talks, complained about federal spending and Bush’s deficit. If we sent him back to Washington, he meant to do something about it.

Well, since he was re-elected, he has voted for every spending plan introduced in Congress, and in less than a year tripled or quadrupled federal spending. He is your typical politician who says one thing to the folks back home but does the opposite while in Washington.

May I suggest the next time your staff interviews or quotes Mr. Etheridge that you also offer the opinion of someone who disagrees in order to be fair and balanced. A spokesperson with the John Locke Foundation, Americans for Prosperity or the Wake County Republican Party, for example, would be pleased to be interviewed.
