Golden State Foods Suffolk facility won’t be shut down after all

Here’s some good news about jobs being saved instead of lost.

Though it was set to close at the end of last year, the Golden State Foods distribution center in Suffolk, N.C. will remain open, functioning as a facility for its subsidiary distribution company.

In 2008, the company announced it would consolidate its Southeast facilities, closing distribution centers in Suffolk and Greensboro, and transferring operations to Lexington, S.C. and Garner.

The new move allows the facility to retain about 90 percent of its employees, company officials say.
