Chemical Safety Board annouces safety recommendations

The U.S. Chemical Safety Board has recommended tighter restrictions on gas-line purging, and is expected to vote on the proposal Thursday night after receiving public comment.

According to the recommendation, natural gas would have to be vented outdoors when gas lines are purged; when that’s not feasible, companies would have to seek a variance from local officials.
