Staff reports
The Lake Benson boathouse will resume its regular boating and fishing operation schedule Thursday, March 18. Until Oct. 31, the schedule will be in effect Thursdays through Sundays from sunrise to sunset.
Boat rentals will also be available during that time. Individuals may rent a boat with a motor for $10 an hour or $50 a day, or they can rent a boat without a motor for $4 an hour or $20 a day; seniors are eligible to receive half-price boat rentals. Visitors are allowed to rent a boat without a motor and bring their own motor and battery to use.
The boathouse will feature a new fishing tackle loaner program to begin April 1. Novice anglers are encouraged to borrow rods and reels free of charge. The loaner rods and reels are provided by various city and county parks across the state and through N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s fishing tackle loaner program. The program was created to introduce people to fishing and to encourage novice anglers to continue developing their skills.
