Young golfers in the area will have a new way to show off their talents and hone their skills this summer with the announcement that the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will host events in North Carolina.

Events, which feature three age divisions for boys and two for girls, will be held in Raleigh, Greensboro, and Charlotte with the inaugural series beginning June 5 at the Bermuda Run Golf Club near Winston-Salem. Boys divisions include 10 to 12, 13 to 15 and 16 to 19 while girls compete in 10 to 14 and 15 to 19 age divisions.

Events are scheduled at Stonebridge Golf Club in Charlotte July 10, at River Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh Aug. 21 and at Bryan Park Golf Club in Greensboro Sept. 18.

“Everyone at the HJGT looks forward to hosting events in North Carolina and giving juniors a better experience on a bigger stage,” Mario Conte, executive director of the tour, said in a press release. “Our goal is to bring a tour to North Carolina that juniors will love to play on and ultimately help them achieve their goal of playing college golf.”

The tour currently carries exemptions for the American Junior Golf Association and junior golfers will have the opportunity to earn Tarheel Junior Golf Association and National Junior Golf Scoreboard  rankings at all events.

More information on the tour can be found at www.hjgt.org or by calling (904) 379-2697.
