RSS Feeds

What is an RSS feed?
Simply put, it’s an efficient way for a Web site to distribute its content. For the reader, it means being notified when new content has been published on a particular site.
Why would I want to subscribe to a feed?
To see when your favorite Web sites have been updated, rather than checking periodically for updates.

How does it work?

Subscribers can receive feeds through a web-based reader (also known as a feed aggregator), which makes it easy to manage subscriptions and see updates at a glance. When new content is added to the Web site, readers receive a link to the post, along with its summary.  Examples of readers include Google Reader, My Yahoo! and NewsGator. You must have an account with these sites in order to receive feeds. Many (if not most) readers are free.

I’m interested in education news. Can I receive updates for a particular topic only?
You bet. Our feeds are broken up into community, city, police, sports, faith, education, opinion, business, and headlines. Of course, readers can also sign up to receive updates on all topics.

How do I get started?

Click on the link of the feed you want to subscribe to (below). You will be directed to the feed’s page. In the upper right corner, select your reader. You will be prompted to enter your username and password (if you are not already logged in to your reader account). That’s all there is to it.

All this talk of readers and aggregators makes me nervous. Is there another way to subscribe?
You can get updates delivered to your e-mail inbox.
