Have Garner news to share?

E-mail submit@garnercitizen.com after reviewing these guidelines:

  • We publish news about Garner people and events (including Cleveland and the Garner section of the 27603 zip code).
  • The deadline for submissions is Monday at 4 p.m. for the following Wednesday’s issue.
  • Inclusion in the upcoming issue is dependent on space. (Submissions that are not included because of space restrictions may be published in the subsequent issue.)
  • We accept high-quality (300 dpi) images as .jpg files.
  • Make sure to include the basic details: who, what, when, where, why, and how.
  • If including a picture, identify people from left to right, and include first and last names.
  • Please fact- and spellcheck the message before sending.

Calendar events

Calendar events should be e-mailed to submit@garnercitizen.com. Before submitting an event, please review our guidelines:

  • The Garner Citizen publishes calendar items for events in Garner, including Cleveland and the Garner section of the 27603 area code, only.
  • The deadline for submissions is Monday at 4 p.m. for the following Wednesday’s issue.
  • Include day, date, name of event, short description, location (including address), and time. If applicable, include price, Web site, and contact name and phone number. See format example below.
  • Calendars listings are free. Because space is limited, we cannot guarantee publication of every item.
  • We print calendar events roughly 10 days in advance. Please do not send details for events occurring more than a month in the future.
  • We are not responsible for errors in calendar submissions. Please ensure that all details are correct before e-mailing your event.

We request that events are sent in the following format (example):

Rex Blood Drive: Donate blood at the Garner Chamber Business and Community Expo. To make your appointment, contact Donna Sorrell at 919-625-0051.
Location: Garner United Methodist Church, 201 Methodist Drive

Announcements

Engagement, wedding, birth, birthday, anniversary, and other congratulations announcements are fee-based. To place an announcement  e-mail submit@garnercitizen.com. Include a daytime telephone number.

  • Announcement without photo: $35 (up to 30 words)
  • Announcement with photo: $45 (up to 30 words)
  • Additional words: $4.75 per line (average of 5 words per line)
